For a whole year Turin and Piedmont will become an immense stage. Twelve months of events all under the banner of the love for books and reading. The heart of the programme in Turin is the idea that won it the award by UNESCO as World Book Capital: Sign Language. And the idea of the Grand Re-tour starts out from Turin.

People have been writing and reading in Rome for three thousand years. For the year as World Book Capital, Rome has chosen to develop a programme of projects and actions to promote reading in the city, the metropolitan area and the region, and to promote a network of international co-operation in education, translation and facilities for books and reading.

Greetings from the Mayor of Rome

Two cities, linked by a thread of books. Two cities that have built and continue to build an important point of their cultural proposals on books.

Walter Veltroni

Grand Re-tour

For centuries, a journey to Italy was part of the education of European intellectuals. Today, the Grand Tour returns thanks to Turin World Book Capital. A Grand Re-tour from Sicily to Turin, in the footsteps of famous travellers of the past to recount the Bel Paese of the third millennium.
